Eligibility Criteria

  • Be academics, creative writers, independent scholars, or visual artists.
  • Propose a project that requires extensive use of the Library’s research collections.
  • Be conversant in English (all application materials must be in English).
  • Not be enrolled in a graduate program or conducting dissertation research.
  • Not be NYPL staff, trustees, advisory committee members, or their partners.

Note: The Fellowship is open to applicants working in languages other than English, as long as they meet the above requirements.
